Turmeric After-Sun Face Mask

Homemade, easy recipe and zero waste ;)


Ingredients:

  • 3-4 tea spoons of yogurt (vegan or regular)

  • 1/2 tea spoon curcuma/turmeric

  • 1-2 tea spoon of oats (optional)

  • 4-5 drops of lemon


Instructions:


1. Combine all the ingredients in a small recipient or bowl.


2. You can use a fork to blend it all together, aim for an homogenous mixture with a similar consistency to wet sand.


3. Transfer the mix to a glass jar and store in the fridge.


Ideally use it right away at the end of a day in the sun. You can leave the mask on your face for 10-15 minutes, then wash your face with warm water and dry with a clean towel.


About ingredients:


The yogurt has a cooling effect and its consistency makes it a great base. Turmeric can act as a local anti-inflammatory and has antioxidant components, it may leave a yellowish tone after use so make sure to wash it off properly.


The oats help give the right consistency for the mask, specially if you are using a yogurt that it's very liquid and it also helps hydrate the skin ;).


CAUTION: DO NOT expose yourself to the sun after using this mask. The lemon, rich in vitamin C, is also photosensitive which means even if you wash your face, the small traces of lemon can cause pigmentations on the skin if you go back to the sun.


Most of the time, these pigmentations go away with time but you want to avoid them.


Use the face-mask at the end of the day, it can be before going to bed.


Last but not least, I recommend you do a test on a small part on your arm to check if there is any skin reaction before using this mask.
